Let the fun be-GIN!
On Sunday 22 May we toured 9 lovely ladies and 2 spirited men around the Bayside Beer Belt on a Spirit Tour. The first stop of the day was at That Spirited Lot in Seaford where the group were treated to 4 of their best-selling gins – The House Pour, the Ninch Dry Gin, The Island Flower Gin and the Hawker Market Gin, accompanied by some tactile education on what goes into a gin and makes it so unique. PLUS a visit out the back to get a look at ‘Doris’, the 200L copper still and see where all the magic happens. Thank you Kate and Reilly for a fab start to the day.
Our next stop was Urban Ground in Mordialloc for lunch, followed by a very generous tasting with the knowledgable Lachie from Saint Felix Distillery.
Here the crew got to try a Wild Forest Gin, Yuzu and Green Tea Spirit, a Bitter Citrus Aperitivo and their latest product, a Cherry & Cacao Husk Brandy. Each spirit was accompanied by a different mixer as well as a different citrus fruit.
Following on was a quick trip up the road to the newly branded and not so long ago renovated Boatrocker in Braeside. Being a brewery and a distillery, guests here can choose which tasting they would like to do. Those who chose the Gin flight had a gorgeous display waiting for them on arrival with their Summer Gin, Jungle Gin, Original Gin and Raspberry Gin waiting for them. Then the fun and energetic Andi took the group through each drink, again with a mixer and gorgeous herbs & citrus fruits to match!
Our final stop
Our last stop for the day was with the entertaining and amusing Max from the Gin Dispensary in Beaumaris. We were very lucky to have the downstairs function room all to ourselves where the crew were able to taste the three Port Phillip Gins on offer. Hells Bells, Insanity and Fiona’s Fury. For a bit of fun, Max got the blow torch out to demonstrate a steamy gin trick!
As always, we played some games, took some creative team photos and at the end crowned a team the Champs of the Tour! Well done Jemma, Matt & Richard.
It was such a fun day with so much laughter (a lot of talking) and connections made. A big thanks to the amazing ladies and token men (it’s ok, they referred to themselves as that) for joining us on our Spirit Tour!
